Hi Folks,

Maybe this is covered by another topic, but very relevant to upcoming congress events:

Fellas - for goodness sake:  spread yourself around!    Dont just dance with your club friends - dont ignore them either, but if every fella there made an effort to dance with new/different people there, not only would there be less of a throng on the sidelines of the dance floor, but its make for a more fun atmosphere in general.

Also, please, unless you pull a hamstring or have a knife in your back ( its murder on the dancefloor ) ( sorry!), DONT STOP Dancing!    As a minority as most Salsa events ( women like to dance more than fellas on average ), you will usually have the ability to stay dancing all night long, please, please pay a small tribute for that boon, by dancing until you drop!

If each guy dances with at least 4 girls he doesnt know ( provided he doesnt just grab them as they come off the dance floor), then assuming a 70-30 split the maths favor most ladies will get a good complement of dances, good for you ( long term) and good for them, and the event.

Be the Venn Diagram.  Venn Diagrams are a good thing.

( Mark/Mike - just as an aside: - any chance of a search button for the forum? [ stolen from Google maybe ;] )

here here. also maybe we should have a feature for plotting diagrams...

Och I just liked the metaphor: those diagrams are made up of multiple circles with a high level of intersection between them, seemed apt

One thing I have seen recently which worked pretty well was a warmup dance where a leader just called out "cambiemos" or "change" about 1 min into the song, forcing everyone to change partner mid song.  Fun and good at breaking ice, getting people used to dancing with strangers, and to lighten up a bit to ( why so serious? )

why so serious indeed

Hehe I wonder if we could get away with calling switch in the middle of the club at salsa school and getting everyone to swap partner mid dance.. I foresee chaos

Switching. Brilliant idea. Go for it. Friday night

It would be a good 'chaos'  right?
