Cork Bonanza 2009 - How was it for you?

Just wanted to pass on my thoughts on the Cork Bonanza this weekend and see what people thought of it as an event.

I just made it to the 2 party nights and had a great time both nights.

The shows were amazing, particularly impressed by Manuel Mascarell, very classy performer, and I can see why people were saying the teaching in the classes was top class.  Moe Flex I think it's safe to say kept us entertained throughout the night.  Had a blast at the Saturday night after party as well, bit disappointed when I had to leave or be left behind though.  It's always great to see the effort people make for the fancy dress on Sunday night, seems to lift the atmosphere even more on the night.

Thanks Kathleen (loved the Burlesque performanceCool)

Yes - a great weekend.   The venue for the Monday party was excellent - thank goodness for the good(enough) weather!

I was also impressed with Manuel, very charasmatic individual, his 'connecting with your partner' class was a great laugh, as well as giving food for thought. Cool

Dont know where Mo gets his energy reserves from, great fast hand techniques, he really knows how to fire the crowd up.   And his emphasis on 'Ladies, let your man lead!' + 'make even your basic funky!   Also great fun.Laughing

What was interesting was how challenging the intermediate level was throughout - as whilst it was all 'doable', you really had to have your mind on full alert, as no prisoners were taken.Tongue out

Kudos.

Now if only there were classes on next-day recovery techniques....

Before i say anything, I'll state overall I Enjoyed the Bonanza and am definately planning on going back.

The BRILLIANT STUFF:

Manuel , Great class and plenty of fun. you opened my eyes by closing them.

All intermidiate classes i found benefical.

Saturday had everyone dancing, smiling and enjoying the show.

Sunday had everyone dancing, smiling at MO and enjoying the show.

Monday was definately part of the fun and not something to be missed when going.

Some things i think could have been better is :

Chambers on Friday is too small for the amounts of people going .. people were getting hurt dancing bachata which i thought was impossible. This nearly ruined it for me.

I think the private classes would have been better as alternative salsa and leave the private classes till the end.

Great for everyone who loves reggetron (bascially all the women at the party) , after a while it got very recurring. it's seems like left walk,  right walk , walk everyone into a wall so they get squashed. Good laugh the first five times doing it.

HI,

Just a quick shout there to all the people that attended our festival (this is Shaz). I am only getting my voice back now!!!

To be honest, as well as the fab instructors that were there, it is the students and party attenders that make the weekend. Especially from our point of view as you know how much the salsa ireland team like to join in in the madness! The highlight for me was the dancing in the rain - I dont think that kinda thing could be pulled off in any other country but our own sweet Ireland!!The chambers will now be new Friday night venue- the pillars are been taken out to open up the dance floor so hopefully this will sort out the space issue for everyone - so thanks for the feedback - unless we know we cant fix it!

Big thanks to everyone and see you next year for or 10th YEAR ANNIVERSARY - there are lots of surprises in store for ye all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love Shaz
