I am looking for advice on good places to dance and experience Salsa in Cuba. Am going for 2 weeks in January 2010!! Trying to track down places that might be off the beaten track if possible - any tips much appreciated!!

My experience in Cuba was to get out of the main tourist centres and hang with the locals, then they bring you to brilliant places.

I spent most of my time there in Trinidad. I stayed in a B&B (well that makes it sound posher than it was! someone's spare room), got salsa lessons every day and then we would dance with the tourists first at night and then off to some dark salsa night for the proper dancing after!

Also getting in with the locals means you can spend in cuban dollars and therefore effectively it is impossible to spend money at all, as everything is dirt cheap.

Thanks for that Julie, that is really helpful - do you happen to have any contact details that you could forward on to me ex. where you got the classes in Trinidad or where you danced and stayed?!

Many thanks again,

Jennifer

hi Julie, just wondering if you could forward me the same information that Jenifer / jbro has asked you for? I'm going to Havana in two weeks and I'm staying in Trinidad for a couple of nights too.

Sooooo Excited!!
