About Salsa.ie

Salsa.ie all started 6 years ago with the opening of Salsa @ Afterhours.ie. On the 3rd of September 2003 we opened the Salsa @ Afterhours.ie site to create an online community for Salsa Dancers all over Ireland. The site was setup with forums, full salsa class and event listings and an article section where our members could publish congress reviews and other articles of interest to the community.

It started out with a few of us at first but soon grew to be a thriving community (the chat room has cost a lot of us more time than it really should have during a busy working day!) which has been a central part of the salsa scene for years.

Our community was founded on a core set of beliefs, formed from a passion for salsa dancing and with the dancers themselves in mind. To this end we aimed to become a neutral voice allowing promoters to list their classes and events for free so as to created a single platform for the exchange of information within the Irish salsa community. We also added forums, member pages and a chat room to allow salsa dancers to chat and get to know other dancers around the country.

Out of this community came not only some great friendships but what can only be discribed as a unique salsa event in the form of the Irish Salsa School which we believe is the worlds only non-profit international salsa congress.
